What's In a Name?
Like the Spice Girls, the members of the Finger Bangerz all got their names based on their individual personalities. DJ Ngobility's last name is Ngo, and his reason for tacking on "-bility" is twofold: to imply "nobility," and also to imply "ability." Clever. The DJ formerly known as "Cutsoqwik" originally used his name as his AOL screen name, but has since shortened his DJ name to Cutso. Replay received his name after constantly playing the same routine to the point of nausea. As the only white guy in the crew, Golden Chyld was so named because "it sounds better than 'White Guy'." Square One either got his name because he's boring or was a big fan of Square One Television. G-Wrex got his by being a certified home wrecker. But he doesn't do that shit anymore. Or does he? Gentlemen, better check on your wives.

The Day the Western Hemisphere Was Won
The Finger Bangerz won the 2000 ITF (International Turntablist Federation) Western Hemisphere Team Championship, but got slaughtered in their World title match by a group of hair-slicked Eurotrash discotheque wimps called the Scratch Action Heroes. But their Western Hemisphere championship opened plenty of doors, and the members have each held weekly DJ nights at countless South Bay clubs.

Is This Annoying?
How do six personalities come together so often without annoying the shit out of each other? "Uh, we do annoy the shit out of each other. We all have our moments," says Ngobility. Golden Chyld adds: "One person will constantly be late, another will be lazy and not working, and others will be breaking equipment all the time, but I won't name names. Everyone has their moments where they get the group's cold shoulder."

Life goes on - as long as they're not messing around with each other's girlfriends, right? The crew laughs: "Sometimes that happens too."

Coming Soon
While the next full length Finger Bangerz CD has been delayed until winter, Ngobility has a break record coming out soon called Battle Scar Breaks, and G-Wrex and Replay will release their remix CD, Used Soul, in May (soon to be reviewed on this very site).
