Asian Invasion
Japanese new wave/punk/progressive-influenced quartet seeks American fans for serious rocking and rolling. Apply within.

First, picture Devo. Now picture Devo turning Japanese. Now throw in elements of progressive rock, techno, pop and new wave. Congratulations; you’re now officially hip to Polysics (pronounced “polly-six”). (more)

Bonded by Blood
The Blood Brothers + Ross Robinson + your ears = holy shit

Is it possible? Can producer Ross Robinson, the “Bob Rock of nu-metal,” have good taste in music? As the man who deserves all the credit and the blame for producing albums by Limp Bizkit, Slipknot, Korn and the reincarnation of Vanilla Ice, thus furthering the “Adidas rock” movement, he’s an easy target for hatred. But wait... not so fast. (more)

Dollar Binge 3
The search for Spock.

Much like Meatballs III and Jaws 3-D, the third installment of the “Dollar Binge” column is proof positive that the public’s good taste and hunger for quality cannot be slaked with just two of any kickass franchise. Will this lowly feature achieve the dizzying heights of fame reserved for Lethal Weapon IV, or – dare I utter it – Jason X? It won’t be for lack of washed-up has-beens and never-weres in the clearance rack, that’s for sure – the coral reef that is the music business is stained red and ribboned with the bloody hunks of broken dreams and failed deals, and there’s fresh chum floating in on every tide. So let’s go bottom-feeding! (more)

Amoebapalooza
And all this time, you thought retailers didn’t know how to rock.

Until recently, I always felt appreciated by my employer. He’s supportive and grateful for my hard work. He rewards me with incentives and title changes when I have earned them. He allows me to have a pretty flexible schedule given all of my outside interests. In the past, he even took a group of us to see A Perfect Circle at the San Jose State Event Center. I thought that was so cherry!

Screw all of that. He needs to take a lesson from the owners of Amoeba Music in order to make this girl happy. (more)

"Keith Bergman, our resident Simon Cowell of the dollar clearance bins, returns (well, technically he never left, despite restraining orders and electric shock treatments) for the third installment in the ever-sexy “Dollar Binge” series."

"Great site! There’s just one thing missing: a great live reviews section! I noticed you only have one or two live reviews every once in a while. If you need a music lover with a scathing wit and a wealth of music knowledge, I’m your woman. How can I get in on adding my expertise to this wonderful site of yours??"
