Laurice Van Den Oosten: Westport School of Art and Music

Laurice Van Den Oosten is delighted to report that WAMS is doing better than ever since returning to service in person after the many blockages and setbacks.

She told us, “We now have over 300 students on our register! This is more than double what we had last year. The school has been able to create new events recently, such as ukulele and banjo bands, monthly book clubs, a studio recording space, and the return of their ever popular Kids Art Club.

“Over the summer we have hosted arts and music summer camps for kids of all ages, as well as open mics and weekly concerts featuring local musicians from the city including Headroom, Hounds of dusk and Colin Mulligan This Christmas we are planning to organize a joint team recital with Maria’s Music School (location to be confirmed).

Laurice added: “We are looking for numbers for a book club for teens and children that we want to launch soon on a weekday. If people are interested, they can submit their name on the website under the” book club “page. “.”

WAMS has kindly started to loan musical instruments to its new and existing audiences for free. “We are always looking for people to donate instruments to the school. As always, they will be hosting the Royal Irish Academy of Music exam centers this winter and next spring for their own students and foreigners.
